Second Life gave me the opportunity to reach two dreams of my childhood . I grew up on a boat, and I took art classes and learned to paint on an easel with oil paints.
Sailing and painting are two important dimensions of my personality. My real life followed a different path but I held fast to my imaginary and artistic sensibilities.
I do not plan anything in advance. I just let it happen. I like to explore new worlds and experiences, and sometimes I feel a special energy accumulating inside my soul. Then I stop and take a picture. I like fresh views and I try to catch the feeling of the moment.

Violetta Carolina
Biography of Violetta Carolina
Five years ago the first contact with the sl-art scene happened – someone starting so early clearly loves and lives art.
Violetta Carolina from Bay City collected during her time in secondlife more experience than any other old hand.
After at first being one of the art consumers and tentatively creating own works, she got started in 2010: the year 2010 was her most creative time – after hearing OH Yes! over and over again at her first art exhibition .
That’s what made her take part at events of the University of Western Australia or at the “festival of love” in sl and in Metropolis.
The artist now presents her works in her own gallery which stands under the auspices of discoverART.
Of course Violetta is eligible for reaching a broad audience but with her works she also addresses people like herself who are socially critical.
It is especially important to her to be successful with her own works and to be accepted as a serious artist.
At the moment Violetta is not only happy for her exhibition in "The Living Room" and Metropolis, but also for her planned club tour themed “Art meets Music”.
“My pictures and sculptures are like a diary to me in which I process my experiences.
I get inspired by life and love” describes Violetta the process of her work.
In any case life provides a lot more material for further works.
:)

Yany Oh
I am Yany O'Real.
I was born on Welcome Island in 2007. I spent my youth mostly on Muse Island. After the years as emperor there, I decided to become a monk living alone in the mountains. After the time of purification, I decided to make my little ship my home - far from the crowded places. SL is a place I visit.
P.S. I need not mention that I like fried chicken, need I?

I love to take photos in HDR and Sepia. I have been bringing my photos into sl for years just for the pleasure of sharing. The art auction is a great opportunity for me to support this great cause .

Slatan Dryke
"Photography... My Photography is not an Art Expression. It's only a way to bust from myself... however, being closer to my Kernel". Slatan Dryke "The suspended moment intervenes during the action, and suddenly it blows up in a sharp lapse into yore". - Slatan Dryke - In RL Slatan loves Art in every expression, but he is most fond of paintings and sculptures, following his classical education. Slatan is also a photographer in RL. Always the traveler, Slatan loves to wander across the grid, finding new pockets of beauty for his pictures, thanks to the creativity and imagination of fellow residents. Slatan is a perfectionist in taking his pictures, never missing a single detail. The ratio, the framing and windlight are quite an obsession, until finally the right image is in his viewfinder. Slatan rarely uses an editor to modify his pictures, so he likes to say his works are "natural". On the other hand, Slatan admits to have limited skills in building, so he creates his sculptures, not following a real scheme, but only indulging his instinct and his love for abstract forms, which are often slight but become alive with a creative use of textures, lights and movements. Slatan likes to use old-school SL building methods, with a preference for prims in their multiple aspects rather than mesh. Some of his sculptures are on permanent display in other art galleries including at the University of Western Australia (UWA), and he has displayed his work at a number of main SL events: BURN2's events including Santalarity and Burnal Equinox; SL Birthdays, Raglan Shire's ArtWalk, Art in the Park, Emphatic Eccentricia, Seaside Gallery, Oxford @rts Gallery. Cape Able Art Gallery Ethnographia and many others. MAGANDA PHOTOGRAPHY
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Yosemite%20Forest/97/225/1358
Maganda Photography (formerly Jadyn Firehawk Photography) features framed, original images of bold, crisp, and at times ethereal RL objects and scenes. You'll be amazed at how the eye can see. All items are modifiable and can be sized to fit your space.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: JADYN FIREHAWK
I'm a professional geographer and an amateur photographer. Studying geography (in particular, doing field studies) has helped me learn to see with a "geographer's eye." Born in the Philippines and raised in the United States, I've lived many places in my life: Quezon City, Chicago area, upstate New York, central Connecticut, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Berkeley, Washington DC, New Jersey, and now central Texas.
Here is my favorite photography story: I once interned for the Geography Education Program at the National Geographic Society. One thing that I saw while there was a National Geographic photographer leaving on assignment with two plastic shoeboxes packed full of 35mm film. I realized, "Hey, he is taking that many pictures, and the magazine article will have, what, 12 photos? Ah! So that's how you get great photos!"
Another thing that I have learned: The mind behind the camera is more important than the quality of the camera itself. All my photos are taken with a compact digital camera - a Canon PowerShot point-and-shoot (A710-IS to be exact) - good basic quality, but nothing very fancy at all. In fact, I have tried switching up to a better camera (a Nikon D-80 digital SLR), and while yes, it is techically a much better camera, I have reverted to my trusty point-and-shoot. I have concluded that it is better to have a small camera in my purse at all times than a big fancy camera that is at home when I am wanting to capture the spontaneous shot the moment it catches my eye.
Most people see things in pictures; I see pictures in things. I especially like to photograph things that I see in daily life "as is," things that simply catch my eye, without any staging. I have jokingly told people that if I ever publish a book of my photos, it will be called "Pictures of Nothing." I am amazed that once I start looking for interesting pictures, the world around me gets more interesting. The more I take pictures, the more beauty I see in the world.

In Inaka
Hello, -who am I? -what is art for me? Mhm ...omg those are such hard questions and I never was good with words to describe myself and still I'm not. Ok, I'll try to answer in a simple way. I can't say that I am an artist, but I can say that I am involved in art and I love it. The biggest artist is our little planet and to watch this beautiful world is so amazing. Even when we have so many tools to describe her beauty. Second life is one of the tools. I am not sure it is right to say "second" - I believe that I have one life and the internet is part of this life :P Capture, watch, follow... and like someone said: "simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." And it doesn't matter what I have in my hands - pencil, brush, pen or keyboard, I want to show what see with my heart. In Real Life I studied painting at an art academy. Photography is just one of my passionate hobbies. It is just another means of expression for me, a way to show what I see or what I feel, things I think should be shown. In SL I look at this amazing virtual world as a place to share or communicate, to create or just to relax. And of course it is also another tool for expression. I have been in SL for three years. I am happy to live just one life...and I feel very thankful for the opportunity to travel in this virtual place in my free time. This journey means a lot to me. I appreciate it and I feel really thankful for all my friends and people I have met during my travels in SL. Almost after 5 years in sl i understood one thing - that i understand about sl nothing... and it is good! It gives chance to be always nube in my heart... I don't like talks about art... it is not much to say... you are into this or you aren't. Not art gives inspiration to create something or just explode from inside, but You - all - people around me... and sure why i should be selfish and keep it just for myself... Maybe sl it is how we just are... huge set of everything, possible will need more years to figure it out https://www.flickr.com/photos/in_inaka/ http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Empire%20Dynasty/221/104/2295 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Arico/153/146/2401 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Georgiana/213/222/44 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Rockcliffe%20Conservatory/217/36/501 |
Emil Junge
Emil Junge uses a wet in wet technique for his oil paintings. Normally they are 7 x 4 cm and instead of using a paint brush he uses a needle because of the size of the canvas. This technique makes his artwork truly unique.
Emil Junge lives in the beautiful Black Forest and has been painting since 1979. One day as he was painting a model car, he became fascinated by how the paints moved and blended together and through this experience he decided to experiment with other styles of painting, although having no prior experience.

Xirana Oximoxi
N.Vives /Xirana I’m a Catalan artist. My works reflect my concerns and my different moods. They are based on my experiences and express a personal sensitivity nourished by impressions from the external world and my internal world. In this latter sense, I like to call them abstractions of 'mental landscapes'. The works reflect the influences of impressionism, expressionism, abstract expressionism of artists like Jackson Pollock and the informalism among many others. My creative process is constantly evolving and those changes make it difficult to label my art as one specific style. An idea, a painting, a sketch or a simple random spot can open new ways of artistic research and the exploration of new expressive possibilities. I usually work with different mediums, oil, watercolor, acrylic, ink, charcoal and pastel. Actually I am doing illustrations for children's books too. If you are a writer and would like me to prepare some images for your books, please contact me via Email. You can see some exemples of them at the LM below. Ever since I arrived in SL, I have been inspired by the imagination and vision that people have which create this amazing world we live in. Since the beginning of 2011 I have tried to capture the beauty of these places in my paintings, You can see my work in the following Galleries: Virtual Expressions Gallery http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tabula%20rasa/173/223/25 The Lost Unicorn Gallery http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ethereal/39/167/24 I work continually to improve my art, and I welcome comments from those who see it. My art and photography works are known for two elements: a. "Realism": the pics of landscapes and avatars for which such effect is used, look "real". b. "Painterly effect": the pics on which such effect is used look like paintings. The work is of highest quality and you can see it on flickr at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/103098463@N04/ and in-world in my studio at: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bal%20Harbour/4/110/2002 ✗ Fashion designer I am designing male clothes for PRISM designs. These were sims owned by me or friends and which were used for both residential and commercial purposes. My latest creation is the PRISM sim. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bal%20Harbour/217/148/23 ✗ Marketing manager In real life I am a marketing manager. I have practiced that in SL as well but as a supporting activity due to the limited time availability and the decision to pursue in SL different avenues from real life. I am currently assisting with the marketing of PRISM designs. |
Paizlee Turner- Hiddenshoes (Paisley Wetherby)

Shakti Adored
Virtual photography, combined with photo manipulation and digital painting. This is a new direction in my work. Using more photo manipulation and abstract color layering. I have always been an artists since I was a child but didn't discover my real passion until SL. I love to play with all the possibilities and potential in the marriage of photography and digital painting. My subject matter, message and energy is very diverse in my work. I rarely set out with a preconceived idea. I allow the picture to show me what it is. Like a sculptor releases the body from the matter. I rarely do pre-posed shots in a studio setting. I go out into the world and wait for the shot. Looking for as much of an uncontrolled environment as possible for the challenge of catching the shot. Lisa Figueroa
Lisa’s real life passion for capturing the beauty she sees with oil and canvas has finally found a way into her second life. After much experimentation she has found a unique and effective way of translating in and outside world beauty into a digital format that seems to live and breathe.
Self-Taught, Lisa’s love of art comes from several years of open mouthed wonder wandering through the halls of the Uffizi and the Accademia in Florence or the National in London through to the Met in New York, her passion for art creating a purely selfish world tour. Heavily influenced by classical art her paintings are occasionally a 21st century homage to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood with Dante Gabriel Rossetti bursting from image to image, from a more contemporary perspective we see influences by Peggi Kroll Roberts and Laurie Justus Pace in her landscapes and in her erotic work hints of Leonid Afremov and Fabian Perez. All coming together to create an eclectic cacophony of form and colour.
Lisa does not seek perfection in art, as Eugene Delacroix once said, “The artist who aims at perfection in everything achieves it in nothing.” Lisa is a self-confessed amateur with a desire and conviction to improve through experimentation and practice, she takes her inspiration in the virtual world from the many wonderful artists who create such mind blowing sims, her art simply reflects a desire to add something creative to this world of imagination.

John Bleriot
John Bleriot is a RL photographer based in Chicago.
His approach to photography is largely a four-step process: it starts with an idea which he then tries to express in an in-camera capture of the subject. The follows an often complex post-processing step and finally the expression of the final image in the form of a print or electronic medium.
John's images have been shown in many venues in and around the Chicago area. At a young age he studied at the New York Institute of Photography and more recently obtained his Certificate of Merit at the school of Chicago Botanic Garden.
